Sharing the Road in Mexico

Between the topes (speedbumps), glorietas (roundabouts), using the shoulder as a driving lane and sometimes having the left hand turn lane be the far right lane, driving in Mexico can sometimes be a bit…challenging. It’s certainly not a place that you can be complacent while driving, best to keep your wits about you and eyes open. After two years I’ve actually become quite comfortable with the driving “laws,” but sometimes? Well, sometimes I still get surprised and startled by who or what we have to share the road with. That list includes horses, donkeys and lots of cattle. The part that delighted me the most here is that the cowboy drove these cattle on a main street right through the center of town. But hey, when you have to get from Point A to Point B you do what’s necessary. Drive safe this weekend and make it a great one!
